On April 12-13, Small Hands members visited a community of empowered Aetas in Botolan, Zambales to learn how they achieved their empowered status as a community and to explore the ways in which those steps could be shared with other indigenous communities.
We usually tend to ignore the little deeds we do in life. Like a small drop in the middle of a still lake, our simple and seemingly insignificant actions can sometimes ripple to something a thousand times bigger than what we have previously cared to imagine. This is one of my realizations in our recent trip back to the Dumagat community in Sitio Magata in Brgy. Laiban, Tanay, Rizal.
Members of Small Hands traveled to Jinamoc Island in Western Samar to participate in the rehabilitation program with the main goal of integrating with the community and helping build the houses.
